Monday, April 18, 2022
A Florida man is facing a list of charges after police say he sped through a crime scene, nearly hitting two deputies, before leading troopers on a chase that ended when he crashed.
Pasco County sheriff’s deputies were at the scene of a deadly crash on U.S.-301 in Dade City early Sunday morning, where a 49-year-old woman had been hit and killed while walking along the side of the road, WTSP reported. The victim in that crash had been hit by a hit-and-run driver, and the force of the crash severed her body leaving part of her remains on the roadway, the station reported.
Investigators told Spectrum News that Andrew Thomas Krummen drove directly at the deputies investigating the crash, ignoring orders to stop, ran over the victims’ legs and then kept going.
The Florida Highway Patrol released a series of videos on Twitter showing troopers pursuing Krummen’s pickup truck, ending with troopers using a PIT maneuver to force the truck to crash and stop.
Krummen is facing a list of charges including DUI and false imprisonment. Troopers told WTSP that Krummen is charged with false imprisonment because he had two people inside the pickup truck with him during the incident. Troopers said both passengers were trying to flag officers down and exit the vehicle.
Investigators are still looking for the hit-and-run driver blamed for killing the victim on the side of the road.
This is Krummen’s eighth arrest in Pasco county in less than four years, Spectrum News reported.
